Buy to own on TalkTalk TV

The TalkTalk Player is exclusively for our Essentials TV and Plus TV customers, and gives you access to all the latest blockbusters and catch-up at the touch of a button. Our brilliant new Buy to Own feature introduces the option to purchase your favourite TV content to watch whenever you like! This feature joins our existing great value Boosts, free to watch included content and the latest Blockbuster releases available to rent to give you even more choice of what to watch.

Question: 
What can I buy?
Answer: 

We'll be adding the "Buy to Own" feature to selected content in the TalkTalk Player so you can choose to purchase your favourite episodes or boxsets in SD or HD (depending on your line speed) and watch them whenever you like on your YouView Box and TV2Go app! Your purchases will be stored in My Library ready to watch whenever you choose.

We're kicking off the launch of this great new feature with the hugely popular Game of Thrones, the medieval fantasy epic series based on George R.R Martin's bestselling book series. Press the TalkTalk button on your YouView remote to explore the available series now.

Question: 
How do I buy content?
Answer: 

Simply press the TalkTalk button on your YouView remote to visit the TalkTalk Player and view all the available content. Any series that are available to buy will show Buy Now on the programme image. Follow the steps below to complete your purchase and enjoy!

Don't forget, the buy to own feature is launching on Game of Thrones only. We'll be rolling this option out to more of your favourite series in the coming weeks so keep an eye on the TalkTalk Player!

  1. Select your chosen content from the TalkTalk Player home screen or search for it. You'll be taken to the content homepage to view all available episodes and boxsets.

  2. Click on the whole series icon or an individual episode to buy. You'll be taken to the purchase screen.

  3. Click the Buy button for your chosen SD or HD version to buy. Please note, HD will only be offered if you have compatible line speeds.

  4. Enter your TalkTalk PIN to confirm your purchase at the price displayed.

  5. Your purchase will complete and your chosen content will start to play.

Your purchases will appear in the rentals section of My Account within your current billing cycle only, and to make them easy to find they'll state purchased after the title.

You can access and watch your purchases at any time from the My Library section on the TalkTalk Player homepage. 

 

I have a monthly allowance, can I still buy content?

Of course! Please remember that any content purchases will be counted as part of your monthly allowance so if you try to make a purchase that takes you above your allowance you'll be barred from purchasing all other content. If you make regular content purchases you may wish to change your monthly allowance to avoid reaching your limit.

Can I buy or watch content via TV2Go?
Answer: 

You'll need to make any content purchases using your YouView Box, but any purchased content in your library can be watched via the TV2Go App so you can enjoy it wherever you are. Follow the steps below:

  1. Tap TalkTalk Player from the menu

  2. Select My Library from the top right menu

  3. Tap your chosen purchased content and then tap Play . You can also tap the Info icon to find out more about the episode or series.

Please Note: Your purchases will appear on your TV2Go app in SD rather than HD, but rest assured you'll still be able to enjoy your favourite content in great picture quality.

How much will it cost?
Answer: 

Our content is available at great value prices which vary depending on whether you choose individual episodes or a series and also SD/HD. All prices will be shown onscreen before you make a purchase, and will also be confirmed as you complete your purchase by entering your TalkTalk PIN.

Question: 
What happens to my purchases if I leave TalkTalk?
Answer: 

As you have purchased your content to own, you'll still be able to keep it if you decide to leave TalkTalk. You'll need to contact us when you leave so we can transfer your purchases, and then watch out for an email from blinkbox with all the instructions.

Once we've transferred everything, you can enjoy your favourite content on a range of devices that are compatible with blinkbox.

If you've already left TalkTalk you can still retrieve your purchases by contacting us.

Question: 
Can I view my blinkbox purchases on TalkTalk?
Answer: 

At the moment we're unable to allow content purchased via blinkbox for your TalkTalk account to be watched via YouView or the TV2Go App. Rest assured though, blinkbox already offer many methods to view and download your purchases. Visit blinkbox for more details.

Question: 
Can I get an upgrade or refund on purchased content?
Answer: 

Once you enter your TalkTalk PIN you are agreeing to the purchase of the content shown. We're unable to upgrade SD purchases to HD, or refund individual episode charges if you later decide to buy the entire series.

Question: 
Can I record or download my purchases content?
Answer: 

At the moment you won't be able to download your purchases onto the YouView Box or TV2Go App. They will be ready to watch at any time by visiting My Library in the TalkTalk Player or on the TV2Go App.

Question: 
How many devices can I watch my purchased content on?
Answer: 

You can watch your purchases on your YouView Box and two mobile devices registered to TV2Go. If you change your mind about the devices registered to TV2Go, you can swap twice within 60 days and your purchased content will be visible on the new devices. You'll also benefit from 3 streams so you can watch your content on three devices at the same time, or resume your YouView Box playback on your mobile device.
